POSITION – The lab of Dr. David Dallas (dallaslab.org) at Oregon State University is seeking a post-doctoral researcher with expertise related to any of the following areas: peptidomics, proteomics, microbiology, immunology and/or bioinformatics. The lab is searching for a post-doctoral research to take part in one or both of the following projects: 1) Examining how milk proteins are digested in term and premature infants and determining the immunomodulatory and antimicrobial functions of the released protein fragments (peptides) (funded by the NIH); 2) Determining the survival of pathogen-specific milk immunoglobulins in the infant gut (funded by the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation). The lab is well equipped and has access to numerous mass spectrometers, including an Orbitrap Fusion for the peptidomics work, at the Oregon State University Mass Spectrometry Facility (http://mass-spec.science.oregonstate.edu). In addition, the lab has access to all the needed resources for peptide and immunoglobulin functional testing, which we are currently carrying out. The post-doctoral position is within the Nutrition Division in the School of Biological and Population Health Sciences in the College of Public Health and Human Sciences (http://health.oregonstate.edu/degrees/graduate/nutrition). The position is a full-time, 12-month appointment. The initial contract is for 1 year but can be extended depending on performance.
PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS – Required qualifications include a doctoral degree in any relevant field and a history of peer-reviewed publications. Preferred qualifications include a history of proposal writing for fellowships and grants.
RESPONSIBILITIES – Responsibilities include working semi-independently to carry our research projects, mentoring graduate students and undergraduate interns, writing manuscripts and writing fellowship and grant proposals.
