Dr. Henri
Salmon is a Research Director in the Institute of National Agronomic Research
(INRA) in France. He earned his DVM from the National Veterinary School-Alfort
in Paris and his Ph.D. in Immunology from the University of Paris. Prior to
joining INRA in 1975, he served as a Research Assistant at College of
Veterinary Medicine in Alfort. (1967-1975). Since 1984, he has served as
Director of Research, INRA, laboratory of Animal Infectiology and Public
Health, Nouzilly. In 1994 he served as Research fellow in Surgery,
Transplantation Research Biology Center (Dir D. Sachs), Harvard Medical School
and Massachusetts General Hospital (Boston
, MA).
His research focuses on
cellular and humoral factors for the homing of T and B lymphocytes into mucosae
(including mammary gland) to enhance the protection of the neonate mainly in
the porcine model and prebiotic and probiotics as a vectors to protect the
mucosae. The team “Lymphocytes and Mucosal immunity” developed some aspects of tolerance
induction via the thymic dendritic cell, the regulatory T cells, cell adhesion
molecule into endothelial cells and some tests to reveal antigen induced
endoretrovirus.
