Madeleine Douaire - INRA

Dr. Madeleine Douaire received a master of science degree in agriculture in 1970, a Ph.D. in quantitative genetics in 1982 and another in molecular genetics in 1991. After teaching animal genetics in an Institution of Higher Agricultural Education (Agrocampus-Rennes) for 15 years she moved to INRA (National Institute for Agricultural Research) where she served as head of an INRA-Agrocampus Rennes joint research unit in animal genetics for 12 years. Following she lead research on molecular genetics of quantitative trait with a special emphasize on fatness in poultry. She has been largely involved creating and steering a large national research programme devoted to genomics for farm animals (AGENAE and GENANIMAL) in which she was the coordinator for poultry genomics.

She has served as the INRA deputy scientific director for animal science and products since January 2008.
